I visited this place three years ago and my husband and I were served prawns which were off and they stunk!! The flies seemed to enjoy them as the plate was full of them. So we left and its taken us three years to return. We hoped for a better experience but it was worse. We will never eat here again and here's why ..... We were given our drink order in polystyrene cups and we ate from plastic plates. The table serve was horrendous and the food was the worst part of all. We started with some clams in sauce. I've ordered this many times in many places and it's a pretty standard dish here in Panama. This however tasted like it was cooked in mud. Most of the shells were empty and the seafood we did find was like rubber. The garlic bread had died long before it reached us. The second course was grilled beef, chorizo and pork. It came with a plate of chips. But actually it came with another plate of plantain. After about 10 minutes and having eaten some of it, the waitress came over, took the plantain away and gave it to another table. Shocking! We couldn't believe that she would give half a plate of eaten food to another paying customer. The rest of our meal was cold and the only sauce they had was ketchup. We asked for salt, mayo etc but no..... they only had ketchup in tiny packets. The meat wasn't grilled and it was awful. It has zero flavour, stone cold and the chorizo was just a frankfurter. It wasn't chorizo and the pork was white. It looked so sorry for itself. My husband and I wanted to pay and leave but we stayed to be polite. In total we were charged 38 dollars for this awful experience. In their favour however, they do have a nice view of the beach but that is the only good thing about this place.
We have seen the reviews on mxtrip and it was 1 mile from our resort so we visited. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed. We arrived and the place was deserted and we didn't even get greeted at the front. We sat ourselves then the waitress asked what we would like. We ordered 2 platters to share and several drinks. I when to the restroom to wash my hands and noticed the sign on the door that stated do not wash your feet on the sink, I proceeded and noticed a styrofoam cup with a citrus liquid and assumed it was the soap and put some on my hands and then found out there was no water. I walked outside and asked the bartender which was only person around and he nonchalantly told me. Oh there is no water! I asked, well where can I wash my hands since I'm covered in soap and you had no sign telling anyone about the No Water issue? He just said I don't k ow there is no water! I walked back and wash my hands with a bottle of water I had in my backpack... this of course brought out several other sanitary issues of course... Our food arrived and was eatable bought fat from expectations. I when back to the bartender since I could not once again find my waitress to ask for lemon wedges for our seafood platter. He dug bare hand into a little bowl pulled a few lemon and handed them to me on my hand. (In which part of this planet is it ok to handle your food bare hand and worst after you told me you have no way of sanitizing yourself? We discarded the lemon and on our waitresses next appearance we requested the lemons, she brought our quickly and on a plate! Much better however when was the last time that plate so clean water or sanitizing procedures? After. What seem like several uncomfortable hours we tracked the waitress down and asked for our check. I used to work for and lived off tips so I did not have the heart to stiff her but she certainly got the bare 15% and won't be getting my return or recommendation business.
So the is beachfront, very rustic and clean. Beers are cold and frozen lemonade is tasty. Started with the fried calamari (arañitas) small squid... tasty but minuscule and more. Batter than anything else. Shrimp in creole sauce was excellent, very tasty. Must recommend to orden them with patacones (fried plantain)... delicious, The whole fried snapper was very fresh, mid size is large.. was very good. A place to hang out and watch paddle boards and can even get into the ocean. Will return.
Great local place. Awesome ceviche. Get the mixed ceviche with fish and shrimp. Panama beer is cold. Definitely a local place. Worth the drive to Veracruz.
